Hey everyone! I’m alive, I’m not dead. I’m still making money online. I’ve just been busy with a few things lately; work, enjoying the awesome spring weather here in New York, and spending my one year wedding anniversary last weekend with my husband at Atlantic City.
It was AH-MAZING by the way…. but that’s a different story for a different blog.
Today, I just wanted to stop in and let everyone know that I’m doing okay. I also wanted to talk a bit about paid advertising, which I’ve been making money online with recently.
Also, let me just say that I will definitely get to my “total earnings post” for the month of April soon! April was a pretty good month for me I think, and I can’t wait til I do the calculations.
However, let’s focus a bit on paid advertising.
What is paid advertising?
It is basically when someone pays you (rents or purchases) space on your blog or website to advertise their own products and services.
Now why would someone pay you for space on your blog/site when they can simply create their own? Simple. Because of the amount and quality of traffic your blog/site gets.
Bringing a steady stream of traffic to your blog.. especially quality organic traffic, isn’t an easy task to accomplish. It takes a lot of time and effort and some people prefer to pay for immediate traffic rather than do the work themselves and still not have a guarantee that they will be successful in getting it.
This is why if you spend a lot of time and create a successful blog, you can make a good chunk of change selling ad space on it.
What are some pros and cons of paid advertising?
Pros:
– You have the opportunity to get paid for space, which is non perishable, therefore your resource is unlimited as long as you keep up the traffic flow on your blog. Eg. You can get paid for someone placing an ad that runs for one month. Then the next month, you can get paid again for another person running a different ad in the same space!
– Your payment is a sure thing. After selling the space and getting paid, it’s really not your problem how much traffic comes to or clicks on the ad, because you’ve already been paid. If the ad does poorly on your blog, you have already made your share of money from it.
Cons:
– You risk the chance of earning less money by putting up someone else’s ad than how much you could have made if you’d put your own.
– Many of the things people advertise aren’t legit. Even though these aren’t YOUR ads, they’re on YOUR blog. Your readers don’t know the difference of who they belong to, therefore you risk your credibility if you choose to accept all ads.
Those are just a few of the things I could think about off hand when it comes to paid advertising that you need to consider. With that said, I’d say that for me … even though there are a few thing’s I’m still worried about.. especially the last con which is the credibility of my blog, paid advertising has been a constant money maker for me in the past few months.
I would like to put out there however, that if you click and sign up to something from an ad on my blog… meaning something I didn’t personally recommend within my blog posts, then I’m really not responsible for whether or not the program is legit. You really should do your own research before signing up.
I’ve worked hard on my blog in the past, and as of now, I chose to use paid advertising as a means of income to benefit from my hard work.
